Leila M. Lugo
Partner
Leila M. Lugo is a Managing Partner of the Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. She specializes in all aspects of construction law including defending construction defect, negligent performance and unworkmanlike practice claims while serving her construction clients’ business, licensing and employment needs. She is a Florida Board Certified Construction lawyer. Mrs. Lugo has successfully defended and prosecuted complex construction defect claims in Florida’s State Courts and in Federal Court as well as with the American Arbitration Association.
Mrs. Lugo was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2003 and is admitted to practice in all State Courts of Florida and the United States District Court, Southern and Middle District of Florida. She became board certified in Construction in July 2009. She has lectured the Broward County Construction Law Committee on the Fair Labor Standards Act, How to Survive a Wage and Hour Claim and the Broward Bench and Bar on the Fair Labor Standards Act and its effect on the Construction Industry. Mrs. Lugo also lectured for Lorman Education Services on Fraud in the Construction Industry and Florida Statute 558, Construction Defects. As an active member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., Mrs. Lugo was individually recognized by the organization in 2005 for her efforts with the organization and received a medal for Business of the Year as well has being instrumental in obtaining an award on behalf of her firm in 2007 for Business of the Year for the service industry.
Mrs. Lugo received her Juris Doctorate from NovaSoutheastern University Shepard Broad Law Center (2002). Mrs. Lugo holds an Associates of Arts in Political Science from Broward Community College (1996) and a Bachelor of Arts inPolitical Science and a Certificate of Women Studies (summacum laude and a Golden Key Honor Student) from Florida Atlantic University (1998). During law school, Ms. Lugo was a member of the Hispanic Law Student Association and its Treasurer in her last year when she also interned with South Florida Water Management District. She is currently a board member of the North Lauderdale Chapter of the Boys and Girls Club, Levine Slaughter Unit and a member of the Real Property Probate Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar.
