Jonathan Ciottone



Jonathan Ciottone is the Managing Partner of the General Liability Practice in our Hartford Office, and focuses his practice on product liability, environmental litigation, toxic tort including  asbestos and benzene litigation, public entity law, medical devices, professional liability, emergency response liability, fire related litigation, construction defect, and other general liability matters.  Mr. Ciottone’s practice has included a wide range of complex litigation matters including medical device multi-district litigation on behalf of a fortune 100 company, complex claims docket fire cause and origin litigation and product manufacturing and design defect.  Mr. Ciottone has extensive first chair trial experience.  Mr. Ciottone was also named a Rising Star by Connecticut Super Lawyers as part of the top 2.5% of Connecticut’s attorneys in 2013 and 2014.
Mr. Ciottone’s product liability experience has included the representation of a wide array of product manufacturers, designers and sellers in the following areas: amusement park rides; asbestos; athletic and gym equipment; athletic fields and turf; automobiles; batteries; cosmetics; and hair products; camping equipment; chemical exposure; cranes; dental drills; die press machines; electrical heavy equipment; elevators and escalators; fire detection/suppression equipment; food; furnaces and heaters; commercial garage doors; golf carts and sports equipment; industrial equipment; lead paint; medical devices; oil drums; pharmaceuticals; propane and gas grills; roofing; scaffolding; septic systems; and residential and commercial building materials.
Mr. Ciottone Attended Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he served as President of the Mock Trial Honor Society and successfully competed in the ATLA Product Liability National Mock Trial Competition, winning the North East Regional Competition and advancing to the National Finals. Mr. Ciottone also served as the student appointee to the Faculty Academic Curriculum Board, and was the recipient of seven graduation awards including the 1999 Dean’s Award, the Arnold J. Bai Litigation Award and the Sayegh-Oberst Mock Trial Award.
Mr. Ciottone has been a guest lecturer at the Quinnipiac University School of Law and was a  member of the Board of Directors for American Veterinary Medical Frontiers. His professional affiliations include the American Bar Association, The Connecticut Defense Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute.
Mr. Ciottone is the author of the medical text book Disaster Medicine 2nd edition chapter: "Issues of Liability in Emergency Response" Published by Elsevier, and "Energy Drink Manufacturers Trend Towards Product Reclassification" published by DRI Today.
