Eric Gernant
Partner
Mr. Gernant is the Managing Partner of the Syracuse, New York office. He specializes in the area of personal injury, construction defect, environmental claims, product liability, and life sciences. He has successfully defended complex toxic tort claims involving asbestos, benzene, mold, chemical exposures, lead, and medical devices in the state, federal and appellate courts of New York, New Jersey and has been admitted pro hac vice in other jurisdictions. He has handled complex environmental claims in both state and federal courts involving underground storage tanks and CERCLA. He was recognized as a Rising Star by New Jersey Super Lawyers in 2009 and 2010 as part of the top 2.5% of New Jersey's young attorneys.
Mr. Gernant graduated magna cum laude from Niagara University in 2002 and received his Juris Doctor cum laude from New England School of Law in 2005 where he earned the New England Merit Scholarship. He also received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Perspectives: Beginning of Life & Bioethical Issues for his article entitled "Me, Myself, and I, I, I: Does a Reproductive Cloning Ban Violate Procreative Liberty?"; and in UCC: Negotiable Instruments.
During law school, he was one of two American law students selected to serve as part of the defense team for former Yugoslav President, Slobodan Milosevic at his trial before the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. He was later hired as an attorney to help defend the former Vice-President of Bosnia, Jadranko Prlic for his trial in The Hague, The Netherlands.
