Scott K. Seelagy is a partner in the firm’s Sparta, New Jersey office.  Mr. Seelagy has over 24 years of civil trial experience representing clients in both State and Federal Courts, in matters involving complex products liability, personal injury, subrogation of property damage claims, construction, contract, commercial and shareholder litigation. He has successfully defended claims made against manufacturers and distributors of numerous products, equipment and machinery, as well as claims made against numerous general and sub-contractors in construction defect cases.  He has obtained significant recoveries for insurance carriers in property damage subrogation cases involving fires, water damage, employee theft, motor vehicle and construction accidents, negligent workmanship and product defects.  He has also successfully defended insurers in first party actions involving fraud and policy interpretation disputes, and has handled numerous complex insurance coverage matters.

Mr. Seelagy is admitted to the State and Federal Courts of New Jersey and New York, the State Courts of Pennsylvania and is admitted to practice before the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He has successfully argued several matters before the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and is a member of the Products Liability and Toxic Tort section.

Mr. Seelagy completed his undergraduate studies at Gettysburg College in 1983, and graduated with honors from the Vermont Law School in 1986 with a Juris Doctor degree. At Vermont Law School, Mr. Seelagy was a member of the Law Review.  His Note, entitled “A Critique of the Vermont Securities Act: Is Vermont’s ‘Blue Sky’ Really Grey?” is published in the Vermont Law Review, Volume 11, No. 1, Spring 1986. Following law school, he served as the Law Clerk to the Honorable Ralph V. Martin, Presiding Judge Criminal Division, in the Superior Court of New Jersey.

From 1994 through 1998, Mr. Seelagy served as a member of the District VB Ethics Committee in Essex County.  During his tenure, he served as a Panel Chair overseeing other Committee members investigating ethics grievances filed against practicing attorneys. He also investigated and tried a number of ethics matters during his tenure. In 2001, Governor Donald DiFrancesco named Mr. Seelagy to serve on the New Jersey Medical Practitioner Review Panel, where he participated in the review of public claims against medical practitioners throughout the State, and the imposition of disciplinary action against practitioners.

From November 2001 to the present, Mr. Seelagy has been a member of the Sparta Township Council, including three terms as Mayor and two terms as Deputy Mayor.
