Steven Balson-Cohen

Steven Balson-Cohen is a senior trial attorney at the firm of McGivney & Kluger, P.C. based in the New York City office. Mr. Balson-Cohen’s practice has involved a wide variety of matters, including drug product liability and medical device litigation.
Steven has been litigating product and medical liability matters and in particular drug product liability cases for more than 25 years. He has represented a wide range of corporate/professional defendants, including members of the medical profession, hospitals, distributors and drug/medical equipment manufacturers. The range of claims in regard to drug product liability includes the failure to warn, improper formulation and contra-indicated use. In addition, he has also been involved in a variety of hospital/medical device litigations over the course of his career. His background includes all phases of litigation from inception through jury verdicts and appeals.
Steven received his undergraduate degree from Yeshiva College in 1979 (B.A. Political Science) and his Juris Doctorate from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1982. Mr. Balson-Cohen is admitted to practice in New York State and to all four United States District Courts in New York, as well as United States Courts of Appeal for the Second, Third and Fourth Circuits and the United States Supreme Court.
